OT & SCADA Security Assessment
Hardening audits of Industrial Control Systems (ICS), SCADA networks, and critical facility infrastructures.
Last reviewed by Rhitik Kumar, Lead Offensive Security Engineer.
Scope of Assessment
We secure manufacturing plants, power grids, and utilities. We audit Modbus/DNP3 transport paths, segment internal networks, and review security policies to shield systems from sabotage.
Engagement Details
How the engagement runs
- 01
Scoping and safety planning
Scope, safety constraints and escalation contacts are agreed with plant engineering before anything starts. Availability comes first throughout.
- 02
Passive traffic analysis
Network traffic is captured passively at agreed taps and analysed for Modbus, DNP3 and other industrial protocol behaviour, exposed controllers and unencrypted commands.
- 03
Architecture and configuration review
Segmentation between OT and IT, remote access paths, jump hosts, controller configuration and patch levels are reviewed against IEC 62443 and NIST SP 800-82.
- 04
Reporting and roadmap
Findings are prioritised by safety and availability impact rather than raw CVSS, with a phased hardening roadmap that respects maintenance windows.
What you receive
- Passive traffic analysis of industrial protocols in use
- OT/IT segmentation review with the paths that cross the boundary
- Controller and remote access configuration findings
- Phased hardening roadmap aligned to maintenance windows
- Findings mapped to IEC 62443 where required
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you perform live network scans on OT?
No. Live scanning can disrupt PLC operations. We utilize passive traffic mapping, configuration reviews, and physical inspections to verify architecture.
Why do you not run active scans on OT networks?
Because legacy PLCs can fault or halt on unexpected traffic, and a halted controller is a safety event. Passive capture, configuration review and physical inspection give the same picture without that risk.
Can you test during production?
Yes. Passive work is non-intrusive and runs during normal operation. Anything active is confined to agreed maintenance windows or a test bench.
Do you cover the IT side as well?
The OT/IT boundary is always in scope, since that is where most compromise paths run. A wider corporate network test can be added as a separate engagement.
